Sheryl J. Nixt

M.A. Ulloa Elementary

Sheryl J. Nixt has taught GATE (K-5th) at M.A. Ulloa Elementary School for 18 years. She taught preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and college during her many years of teaching in Iowa, Colorado, and California. She received a B.A. Degree from State College of Iowa and Masters of Education Degree from University of Portland. She is married to Dr. Thomas Nixt. They have two children, Matthew and Angela, and four grandchildren.

Sheryl is the past president of International Reading Association and has held offices in AAUW, Guam Symphony, Guam Library Association and is a member of PDK. She was Ulloa classroom Teacher of the Year, co-chair of the SLIP committee, on the Teacher Center Board and helped open Teacher Center. She spends her free time volunteering at the Dededo Library. She has given many workshops to Guam teachers including Holiday Reading and Writing, Reading through the Ages, Cinderella Around the World, Portfolio Assessment, Writing Fun, Math and Books, Science and Literature, Non-Fiction Fun, Blooming with Bloom's Taxanomy, Whole Language, Reading for Little Ones, ABC Books for K-5, and P.R.O.B.E.
