Mary Jane Alcantara

GATE Music Resource Teacher

Jane is originally from Cebu City, Philippines. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Colegio De La immaculada Concepcion, which provided her an opportunity to be a choir instructor and choreographer for regional and national competitions in Cebu.

She came to Guam in 1990 and was the vocal teacher and choreographer for the Cathedral Grade School Choir for four years, gaining first place in music competitions. Jane moved to St. Anthony's School in 1994. She co-directed and choreographed the Christmas Spectaculars and "Joseph the Dreamer."

In 1999, Jane was hired by the Department of Education as a music resource teacher. In addition to teaching and choreographing for the elementary schools, she is artist director and choreographer of the highly acclaimed GATE all island honor choir which stages two productions each year.
