YOUTHFEST 2005

FIRST GUAM YOUTH FESTIVAL
TO BE HELD AUGUST 28 AT UOG FIELDHOUSE

YOUTHFEST 2005, the first ever youth festival of its kind, will be held at the UOG Fieldhouse on Sunday, August 28, 2005. YOUTHFEST 2005 will combine many elements into one afternoon of fun and entertainment for the youth on Guam.

Included in the afternoon event will be a concert featuring young recording artists from the mainland USA, finalists in a local talent search competition and an island-wide pep rally competition, where the winning schools will get cash prizes. There will also be booths at YOUTHFEST 2005, featuring groups and organizations that cater to the island's youth.

Highlights of the afternoon event will be a concert featuring The Beu Sisters, who are regulars on the Disney Channel and recording artists with the Virgin Records label. The Beu Sisters are four, beautiful sisters who have been described as a " Partridge Family" for the "TRL" generation. Their debut album, Decisions, was recently released, containing the single "I Was Only Seventeen". They recently opened for the Kelly Clarkson / Clay Aiken Tour.

Also appearing will be Sean van der Wilt who is managed by Lou Pearlman, manager of the Backstreet Boys and other artists. Sean is a young, up and coming performer that has a high energy, action packed show.

Directing the event, and performing, will be Glenn Packard a well-known choreographer who was nominated for an Emmy Award for his outstanding choreography on Michael Jackson's 30th Anniversary TV Special. Glenn has also handled choreography for tours and music videos for Usher, Mya, Pink, Marc Anthony and many other performers.

The 12 finalists for STARQUEST, a youth talent search produced by SKIP Entertainment Company, will perform at YOUTHFEST 2005 to determine the winners in the solo and group categories.

And, the first ever Island-wide School Pep Rally Competition will pit island, public and private, middle and high schools against each other to see who will win the cash prize for being the school with the most school spirit.

Some of the organizations and groups that cater to Guam's youth that will be setting up booths at YOUTHFEST 2005 are; Youth For Youth, Department of Youth Affairs, Island Girl Power, I'na'fa Maolek, Sanctuary, Girl Scouts of America, Boy Scouts of America, Fokai Industries, Department of Public Health, Star Sports Cards, Cobra Kai and Creativitees.
